Oh Yeah!! Speech's Done :))

Normally, I don’t feel any nervousness at all when I deliver speeches but during my persuasive speech, I really felt uneasy because of the idea that Francess gave me. And that is to drink water as my introduction. I felt like it’s nakakahiya or maybe nakakabastos. But then they said that it’s okay because my speech is all about water and I just need to have confidence when I perform it. However, I failed! The water that I drank splashed all over my face! But then it’s a good ice breaker and everyone laughed at me. And that made my nervousness go away.  Well, I have noticed that I did better in my persuasive rather than my informative speech. Since I know now what I have to do because of my experience in my informative speech.  That really helped me improve myself and correct the things I’ve done before. I think that eye contact is the most important thing to connect with my audience, and so that helped me to get into their thoughts. Another thing is that I prepared well and I researched thoroughly that helped me understand my topic inside out. But then I still have to develop my voice and expressions so that I can deliver my speeches more effectively and excellently.

I think that being organized would really help you accomplish things more easily. Having a timetable will help you to keep in track of your progress and eventually finish it. Also, conducting research will help you understand your topic very well and it will help you be prepared in case someone asks you about your topic. Likewise, rehearsing is also very important because it will give you the feeling of delivering a speech before a crowd. So that when you finally deliver your speech, you know that you have prepared well and that will lessen your nervousness.

For my resolution, I promise to continue doing researches and that I will carefully choose reputable sources and take down notes before starting my speech or any other research work.  I also promise to rehearse my speech, face in front of the mirror and practice my gestures and expressions. And lastly, I will look at my audience as I talk to them so that I can get their attention and help them understand what I’m saying.

The Power of Weight!

http://goo.gl/Q9sqG

This is not my first time to deliver a speech; my past experiences helped me to prepare for our informative speech.  And I noticed that I’m not nervous at all in giving speeches. Some students get nervous hours before their speech and even while they are speaking, but for me, I only get nervous when it’s already my turn to speak but when I started talking, my nervousness is suddenly gone so I get to speak quite comfortably. I guess my preparedness helped me become comfortable, it’s because I know what I’m going  to do and I know what I’m supposed to say that gives me confidence to speak.

http://goo.gl/7Uw7b
But then on the latter part of my speech, I tend to look at my copy because I haven’t memorized it which made me lose eye contact with my audience. For improvement, I suppose further practices will help me speak more clearly and loudly and to complement it with proper gestures. For the upcoming persuasive speech, I suggest that we minimize the use of visual presentations because it limits us to move and to have proper gestures. But then I hope that I can do better next time.

Some of my classmates asked me questions, and these are the three queries that I chose: the first is from Francess Namia and her question is, “Do you think eating more carbs can be used in dieting?” And I said, “Yes, a carbohydrate is an important part of a healthy diet because it gives energy to your body but then you should choose healthy carbs.” The second one is from Ronalyn Marcellana and her question is, “What makes a girl sexy?” Well, for me, a girl is sexy if she carries herself very well that whatever her body figure is, she believes that she’s beautiful, she’s comfortable and happy with the way she looks and has a healthy body image. And the last one is from Jamaica Lafuente and she asked me of what advice I can give to a person who is skinny but still pursues to get fat. I suggest that that person will continue trying to get fat because we can never tell, maybe one day, her efforts will pay off. It’s fun to eat and everyone loves it so I guess it’s not so hard and it will not take a lot of strength so, there’s nothing to lose in trying.

Informative Speech :)

Informative speech by roseangel

“Thin People Who Never Get Fat!” That’s the title of my informative speech. Basically, I just want to talk to health conscious individuals about why some people never get fat. With this topic, the audience would get to know the reason why some people don’t get fat and why some skinny people are healthy.

For the introduction, I would like to differentiate healthy and unhealthy person. This would give them the idea that not all fat people are healthy and skinny ones as unhealthy. Also, I will talk about healthy and unhealthy foods. For the main part, I will discuss about metabolism and the science behind being skinny. I will explain why this circumstance still happens even if they eat a lot. For the conclusion, I’ll just summarize my whole speech and give my closing remarks.

Outline:
I.         Introduction
A.      Comparison and Contrast between healthy and unhealthy
B.     Healthy and unhealthy foods

II.       Body
A.      Metabolism
B.     Science behind being skinny

III.      Conclusion

Nervousness

Nervousness is really something I can’t avoid especially in public speaking. That’s my main problem and it has a really big effect in my performance so I’m really wishing that I can control it. And so as we discuss it in class, I’m really amazed to know that we can control it and use it for our own advantage. It made me really happy and worry free about our upcoming speeches.

In controlling nervousness, I suggest you to have a good night sleep, prepare yourself for the things that might happen so that when something goes wrong, you know what to do. And lastly, enjoy what you’re doing and relax!

My possible topics for my informative speech are 1) how fruits keep us healthy and 2) intelligence quotient of people. I want to discuss how fruits keep us healthy so that we would know what fruit to eat when we feel something’s wrong in our body. In intelligence quotient, I want to know if it limits a person to do things they wanted and how it affects us.
